GLCA EVENT 4 March 2010
It is becoming a nice habit at GLCA, every two years, to organise a charity event to collect money for the association. At Green Land Charity Association, the projects need your help to happen and to continue to work and develop.
The event happened at the Hotel Mariott, on Thursday 4 March 2010 at 20h30.
One more time, people showed their generosity and the event was very successful, many parents came and donate for the association. (Check also previous event in 2008 in the album …..)
What is to be commended this year is the great participation of most of the students of GPIS. They (PYP, MYP and DP students) all came to help; they were welcoming the parents, helping them to find their seats.
The younger students in PYP tried to sell flowers, bookmarks… items to bring a little more money for the poors.
Mme Nermine El Nomany was very kind to accept to present the party and to remind us the GLCA objectives.
Mostafa Ehab, DP1 student is an active member of the community and service and continued to present the actions done by GLCA and the students at the beginning of the event.
We were honoured to have among of our guests, Mrs Oumneya, Director of the 6th of October governorate for Education. Mrs Oumneya was able to speak to some students who shared with her why they want to participate in such events.
Mr Amr Mokhtar gave also a speech to remind all particpants how important is their role in the GLCA.
The famous pianist, Dr Hassan Sabry, was entertaining the audience
and then Mrs Rula Zaki, the singer sang lovely songs in Arabic as well as French and English.
It was a lovely dinner, a lovely evening, we all left the place with hopes and more ideas to put in place to serve and help the others.
Many thanks to all participants, the students, their parents, their friends, the community lovers managers, the community lovers participants, the teachers of GPIS, the sponsors, the active members of GLCA, Mrs Rula Zaki, Dr Hassan Sabry, the Mariott Hotel……. Who helped us to make this successful event real.

Looking forward to the next event…. Hopefully, it will be next year in 2011.

MERCI A TOUS LES ELEVES DU PP - A BIG THANKS TO ALL PYP STUDENTS
Un grand merci à tous les élèves du PP de GPIS, qui ont participé à la vente de gâteaux et de nourriture, dimanche dernier. Ils ont réussi à vendre pour plus de 4500 LE. Une belle somme pour faire de beaux projets pour l'association de charité. Un grand merci aussi à toutes les mamans qui ont cuisiné pour cette journée.
A big thank to all the PYP students who came on Sunday to sell food and collect money for the poor and for the GLC association. They gathered more than 4500 LE. This money will contribute to help the association and help projects to happen. A big thank as well to all the mothers who cooked for the event.

THE GARDEN AND PLAYGROUND IN GEZIRAT MOHAMED ARE NOW OPENED TO CHILDREN....
The garden and the playground are now opened for the children of GEZIRAT MOHAMED to play and have fun....
Hope you will be many to join GLCA event at the Mariott Hotel on Thursday 4 March 2010, your contribution will help us to continue to do more and more for all the children.

Few days ago, the headmistress of the middle school for girls in Gezirat Mohamed received new desks, boards and furniture to equip the classrooms.....

REMEMBER .....GLCA CHARITY EVENT IN 2008
GLCA organised in March 2008 (15/03) a charity event.
It was held at Mariott Hotel in Zamalek.
This event was great, very elegant, gathered many personalities and helped the GLCA to collect a large amount of money for its projects.
Mr Amr Mokhtar, President of GLCS and founder and chairman of GPIS, welcoming his guests.
NILE TV and many other TV channels covered the event.
The audience, the GPIS students have been interviewed during the event.
Omar Khaykhat, the famous pianist entertained all the guests.
During this evening, M Ake Sorman, DP regional manager of the IBO, came specially from Switzerland to attend the celebration ando give the GPIS MYP and DP students the Robert Blackburn international Award.
GPIS won the International Blackburn Award among all IB schools around the world.
THE ROBERT BLACKBURN AWARD WINNERS
This fund was created to fulfil the wish of the late deputy director general of the IBO, Robert Blackburn, who passed away in 1990. This fund rewards the best project submitted every two years by an authorized African-based IB school (DP, MYP & PYP) with the sum of GBP1000. This award has to be used towards the sustainability of the project.
In 2007
Green land-Pré Vert International School, Cairo, Egypt won the Robert Blackburn Award for their project Restoring and furnishing a small hospital in a very poor area situated in the Gezirat Mohammed district of Cairo.

GPIS HELPS A SCHOOL IN GEZIRAT MOHAMED
GPIS and GLCA are helping a school for girls nearby, in Gezirat Mohamed.
Furniture have been renewed and an activity room was recently built in the playground of the school.
Regular sessions are conducted by GPIS Teachers who help the students
to scaffold their academic objectives and to reflect on their study.

Examples of such projects include: 1. Development plans for governmental schools in the area 2. Garbage treatment and recycling plans 3. Computer trainings for the village youth 4.
